It is once again time for our Valera Bible Conference. This is a special event for the Valera Bible Society and our home church, Iglesia Biblica Bautista de Hialeah. Our conference serves three important functions in regards to the work of our Lord Jesus Christ. First of all, each year we have our annual VBS business meeting, which is open to the public. In this meeting we take care of the business of the Society in regards to 1. the work of distributing and printing the old Valera Bible (1865) throughout Latin America and 2. the translation of Dr. Peter S. Ruckman's works into the Spanish language.

Secondly, from Thursday through Sunday we have some great preaching. Thursday evening at 7:00 pm we startoff with 2 preachers. Friday morning at 10 am we have our business meeting. Friday evening we have two more preachers up to bat. Sat. am two more preachers. Sat. evening at 6:00pm we have two more preachers. Sunday is a special. In this years conference we have the following preachers: Eduardo Roig Ramírez, national pastor (24 years) from Cuba; Phillip Robinson, missionary to Chile (4 years); Louis Bolaños, missionary to Colombia (20 years); David Coronado, pastor, San Antonio, Texas (23 years). In addition to the preaching we have the most important part of the entire conference. In addition to the preaching we have the most important part of the entire conference.

Thirdly, this special part of the weekend is the Calle Ocho Street preaching effort. 

 

Each year in March the city of Miami cordons off 25 blocks of the main street

 

(8^th street) in Miami's little Havana section. They have drinking, carousing, 

 

dancing, eating, music. Of course, we don't go down for those things, rather, we 

 

go down this carnival (emphasis on carne) to preach and pass out between       

 

10,000 to 20,000 tracts.
